Annette Esser is the one who created the trail for the Hildegard pilgrimage. I’m using her guidebook for the trail, although haven’t been able to pick up any of her other books on Hildegard yet. I should be able to visit the museum when I’m there. I believe it’s included with the tour company I’m using. The trail seems fairly doable. It’s not as resourced as the Camino, but there are places to sleep every night and the distances are mostly doable.
I visited Bingen last March, and hope to walk the whole ‘Hildegard Way’ in the future if possible. My hope would be to go during the grape harvest!! Blessings on your travels and thank you for the work you’re doing. It’s much needed!
Do you have any recommendations for Bingen? I’ll be there from Thursday to Sunday. To more I learn about her, the more I am in awe of who she was and how she lived.
I bet that would be an amazing time to walk. A friend of mine went in September, but I’m not sure if she caught any of the harvest while she was walking. I still need to try some wine here.
I’m hoping to bring a group here next year to walk. This is a scouting trip, but so far, I think it will be a great place for a pilgrimage.
Thank you for sharing this first day experience, Jen! We're with you, too! May God continue to reveal and provide in all the ways you need. Love you!
Thank you my Friend! I feel the prayers. Love you too!
If you go to the Museum Am Strand… you will find a wonderful starting place for discovery regarding the places to go nearby, along with her history. She’s not only one of my faith heroes, but I named the tiny house I built after her, so think of her often. let me know about your trip… leading a trip there would be a blast! Also, I don’t know this for certain, but somehow think an e-bike tour might be feasible as some things are a distance apart, though I know there’s a Hildegard walking tour… and I think that’s where I’d begin. Here’s a link to the book about the Hildegard Walking Tour: https://www.amazon.com/Saint-Hildegard-Speaks-Uncovering-Pilgrimage/dp/B0BTSNZX1K/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3CFWVWF980D4S&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.4ZDtexR5XKCnaSDOeRsYoQWuEtQ2Z4UZBV5mqZTgI2b_kNSBv-JKzrQulKNCVAyquaZs1pHvm69sH_wUCTCeqEZtWrPYtiq4RPe9ZUsW_5MLlvOjWddKf10tmKBsb-W7LLSMO0HOJG0ZwwgIrqZu6cghPB2mcf2euG_Lh64AWdCigCDag-sLpTgKfBpOaAq0d204uUYU_dwAFSuAWNI8Ql7czMDfnWcos33gNF_eb58.edUF4sV8fv9IVrKDwNA8g0XCpLd9tOQbQ8o19O3yYKA&dib_tag=se&keywords=hildegard+way&qid=1750785518&sprefix=hildegard+way%2Caps%2C188&sr=8-1

I appreciate the recommendations Richard!
Thank you, Jen! So cool to see where you are and hear how God's meeting you in a new place.
