The Pilgrimage Beckons
A stop in Porto before the Camino
The Pilgrimage Beckons
Greetings from Porto, one of my favorite cities ever! Not surprising, but Germany and Portugal have very different cultures, which became apparent as I waited for my flight to Portugal from Munich on Monday evening. A large group of older Portuguese women were on the flight and the volume level at the gate quadrupled the moment they arrived. I perked up and found myself stirred with excitement over returning to Portugal, even with this small reminder of what was to come. This isn’t to say that folks from Germany are quiet. Far from it, but a group speaking loudly in a public place, like an airport, doesn’t seem like hallmark German behavior.
I continued to be enchanted as one of the women, playfully knocked on the back of another woman’s head, a sort of loving “pay attention” to her friend.
I only wish I had a little more time here, as I try to enjoy all of the food and beverages that only exist in this part of the Iberian peninsula, and delight in the dear people who call this special city home.
Till next time Porto!

2027 Pilgrimages
Feeling intrigued by the life and ministry of Hildegard of Bingen? Or perhaps you’re drawn to the road of St. James (i.e., Camino de Santiago)?
Tentative dates have been released for my 2027 calendar. Click the button below to receive information once registration is live.
Summer With Hildegard
Spend some time savoring the summer season on a local pilgrimage with Hildegard of Bingen on Saturday, July 18. Mystic, doctor, botanist (and more), Hildegard often looked to nature as a way of understanding God's loving work with all creation. This unique pilgrimage experience will invite you to bear witness to the leafy, greenness of summer, by walking in and engaging with nature.
Group Direction Basics
Just as spiritual direction is an art form, the practice of group spiritual direction is its own craft to be learned and developed. Discover how to create safe and welcoming spaces where community, connection, and discernment flourish. This 3-part training begins October 6, 2026.
Coming Home Retreat
Following the Camino, many pilgrims often find themselves lost when it comes to debriefing and integrating their experiences. Yet, this time of homecoming can be an incredibly powerful and clarifying season.
Join me for an online space to unpack your Camino experience. During this 1.5 hour retreat you’ll have space to share about your Camino with other pilgrims & explore ways to continue to bring your experience home.
Coming Home Groups Starting This Summer
Have you recently returned from pilgrimage and find yourself with a case of the Camino blues? Join a group of pilgrims who are seeking to integrate their pilgrimage discoveries and insights into daily life. These 4 session groups meet twice a month, online, with groups starting in July, August, or September.
Spiritual Direction Training with Nuos Formation
Speaking of spiritual direction, I’ve had the honor of being part of the team at Nuos Formation working with our direction cohorts.
